Are you coming or going?

My best friend Vince died from early onset Alzheimer’s at age 42. The central character in “Tests” is based on him. His wife Denise was amused it was published in Halfway Down the Stairs because that’s an old “Alzheimer’s joke.” The patient stops halfway down the stairs and can’t remember if he was going up or coming down.
